Laos has officially introduced a digital system of arrival and departure cards, which is a major step in modernizing the border control system wz̄ithin the country. The new system is an alternative to the traditional paper forms and involves the travelers filling the digital form at least 3 days before entering or exiting the country. The system is now in pilot operation with four major entry points: Wattay International Airport (Vientiane), Luang Prabang International Airport, Pakse International Airport, and the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge (Vientiane -Nong Khai). The initial rollout will help the authorities test the performance of the system and make necessary changes. The aim is to extend it to every border checkpoint by 2026 to improve the efficiency of travel and the accuracy of data throughout Laos.
